At a glance

  • Gangnam Smile Eye Clinic lists SMILE Pro packages at ₩4,100,000–₩5,100,000 for both eyes, including VAT. The vision-correction examination alone is ₩100,000 and is waived when followed by an eligible listed surgery. The clinic must confirm suitability, inclusions and your examination-to-follow-up schedule.

SMILE Pro is not simply another name for flap-based LASIK

With SMILE Pro, a laser creates a small piece of tissue inside the cornea, which the surgeon removes through a small opening to change the corneal shape. This differs from the flap used in LASIK. SMILE Pro uses ZEISS VISUMAX 800. [2]

You may see “SMILE LASIK” used in Korean marketing. For booking, ask for the exact procedure and platform rather than relying on that umbrella phrase. A LASEK quote, a SMILE quote and a SMILE Pro quote are not interchangeable.

Named-clinic prices: both eyes, VAT included

The following prices come from Gangnam Smile Eye Clinic’s supplied list as displayed on GREY, checked 28 September 2026. They are this clinic’s package prices—not a nationwide average. [1]

Clinic packagePriceBasis
Relax Pro₩4,100,000Both eyes · VAT included
Flex Pro₩4,600,000Both eyes · VAT included
Apex Pro₩5,100,000Both eyes · VAT included

Package names alone do not explain every inclusion. Ask for the chosen package’s written breakdown of surgery, prescribed care, drops, checks and any optional items. The clinic’s cataract prices use a different basis—per eye—so do not apply that basis to this SMILE Pro table.

Is the examination free?

An examination-only visit for vision correction is listed at ₩100,000. That fee is waived if you proceed with the listed LASEK, SMILE, SMILE Pro or ICL surgery. It is not an unconditional free eye examination, and the cataract examination has separate terms. [1]

Before accepting an appointment, ask how the examination charge is handled if the doctor advises against surgery, if you decide not to proceed or if a second visit is needed. Keep the surgery quotation separate from any deposit and cancellation conditions. Do not assume an examination booking guarantees a surgical slot.

Your prescription alone does not establish eligibility

ZEISS’s suitability guidance considers more than the glasses prescription, including prescription stability and the condition of the eyes and cornea. The examination determines whether SMILE Pro or another option can be discussed. [3]

Tell the clinic what contact lenses you use and ask for lens-specific preparation instructions before the examination. Provide your prescription history and previous eye procedures if available. Do not book non-refundable arrangements on the assumption that a quoted price means you have already been accepted for surgery.

How many days should you stay in Seoul?

There is no single stay length we can safely promise from a webpage. Plan backward from your departure date with the clinic: examination, decision, possible surgery, early review and a contact plan after leaving Korea. If the necessary reviews cannot fit, discuss changing the dates before committing.

ZEISS emphasizes following prescribed drops and attending follow-up appointments; return to activities depends on the doctor’s advice. [4] Advertised laser time is not the same as total clinic time, completed recovery or clearance to fly. Ask the treating ophthalmologist to confirm those separately.

What should you know about recovery and risks?

ZEISS describes possible dry-eye symptoms, glare or halos and fluctuating or blurred vision after lenticule extraction. Discuss these and other individual risks, alternatives and the possibility of needing glasses with the ophthalmologist. [5]

Before leaving the clinic, know whom to contact if you are concerned about symptoms, including outside routine hours or after returning home. Keep the procedure record and written instructions. GREY can assist communication, but medical assessment and advice come from the treating clinic.

What GREY can check before you travel

Send your arrival and departure dates, the procedure you are considering, number of visitors and preferred language. GREY can check Gangnam Smile Eye Clinic’s examination availability, current package conditions and appointment arrangements. Each traveller needs an individual assessment, even when travelling together.

A useful first message is: “I am interested in SMILE Pro for both eyes. Please confirm the examination fee, VAT-inclusive quote, package inclusions and required follow-up within my travel dates.” You can begin with these questions before deciding on surgery.

Questions before booking

Is ₩4,100,000 the price for one eye?

No. The listed Relax Pro price is for both eyes and includes VAT. Confirm the current offer and final plan with the clinic.

Can I have surgery on the examination day?

Do not assume so. Eligibility, examination findings, preparation and the clinic’s schedule must be confirmed. Ask about the sequence before planning the rest of the trip.

Does “fast recovery” mean I can fly home the next day?

Not automatically. Functional vision, follow-up needs and clearance to travel are separate questions for the treating ophthalmologist.

If SMILE Pro is unsuitable, do I have to choose another surgery?

No. Ask the ophthalmologist to explain the findings and alternatives. An enquiry or examination does not oblige you to have surgery.
