Sofwave vs Ultherapy in Korea: differences that matter before booking
Understand how Sofwave and Ultherapy differ, why shot counts are not equivalent, and how to compare Seoul clinic quotes, comfort plans and follow-up.
Sofwave
Ultherapy PRIMEAt a glance
- The practical difference is how the ultrasound is delivered and planned. Sofwave uses parallel ultrasound centered in the mid-dermis; Ultherapy uses focused ultrasound at selectable depths with real-time visualization. Compare the proposed treatment area and clinical reasoning before comparing prices.

How the two technologies differ
Sofwave describes its SUPERB technology as parallel ultrasound centered at approximately 1.5mm. Ultherapy offers nominal treatment depths of 1.5, 3.0 and 4.5mm with real-time ultrasound imaging. These are device specifications, not a prescription for your face. [1][2]
| What to compare | Sofwave | Ultherapy / PRIME |
|---|---|---|
| Energy delivery | Parallel ultrasound | Microfocused ultrasound |
| Planning distinction | Mid-dermal treatment approach | Selectable depths with visualization |
| What to ask | Which area and concern will this plan address? | Which depths are proposed for each area, and why? |
A deeper setting is not automatically a better setting. Nor does a shallower treatment mean it is risk-free. Ask the clinician to explain the proposed approach for your anatomy and concern, rather than choosing solely from a device diagram.
Which is better for sagging or wrinkles?
There is no responsible universal winner. “Wrinkles” and “sagging” describe what you notice, but the clinician still needs to assess the area and what change is realistically achievable. Tell them if the concern is your brow, lower face, under-chin area or neck instead of requesting full-face treatment by default.
Ultherapy’s own patient information says it does not duplicate a surgical facelift. [6] If you expect a large structural change, ask whether either non-surgical plan can meet that expectation before buying a course. This comparison is not a head-to-head clinical trial and does not establish that one device outperforms the other.
Can you compare 100 Sofwave pulses with 300 Ultherapy lines?
Not as a simple three-to-one value comparison. The counts belong to different delivery systems; the numbers do not describe an identical treatment unit. Ask what the clinic is counting, which areas it includes and whether the proposal is one session or a combination.
Even two offers using the same device can differ in coverage and plan. A lower-face quotation and a face-and-neck quotation should be listed separately. If a package includes an injectable or a second device, ask for the components to be itemized rather than treating the whole price as the price of Sofwave or Ultherapy.

A dated Seoul price reference—not a price promise
REDI’s September 2026 listing shows Ultherapy PRIME 400 shots at ₩1,490,000 excluding VAT, for first visits and excluding procedures by Dr. Min Jung. Its menu also lists Sofwave, but the verified listing used for this article does not supply a directly comparable Sofwave quote. [5]
These listings alone cannot tell you whether Sofwave would cost less for your treatment plan. Ask GREY to confirm both proposals for your chosen area, appointment date and doctor. Include numbing or other comfort measures, aftercare, tax and any consultation charge in the comparison. Check again for dates after the September promotion.
Pain, visible recovery and risks belong in the comparison
Ultherapy lists redness, swelling, pain and transient nerve effects among reported clinical-trial side effects. Sofwave publishes its own contraindications and adverse-effect information. Review the relevant device information with the treating clinician, including any prior procedures or medical conditions. [3][4]
Do not choose from a promise that a treatment is painless or has no recovery time. Ask what comfort measures the clinic proposes, whether they change the visit length or your transport arrangements, and what symptoms require a call. If you have an important event, explain its date rather than assuming that a “non-surgical” appointment cannot affect your plans.
Make the first consultation useful
Bring a short history of previous energy treatments and injections, the areas you want assessed and the change you hope to see. Ask how the clinic will assess the result, when a review is planned and whether a further session is proposed. Clarify whether the quote covers that review.
GREY can help arrange a REDI consultation or check another partner clinic’s confirmed device availability. Tell us if seeing a named doctor matters. Booking support organizes the appointment; the treating clinician decides suitability and the final plan.
Questions before booking
Are Sofwave and Thermage the same kind of treatment?
No. Sofwave uses ultrasound; Thermage uses radiofrequency. [7] This article compares two ultrasound platforms. For the ultrasound-versus-RF comparison, see our Ultherapy and Thermage guide.
Should I book both Sofwave and Ultherapy together?
Not simply because they are sold together. Ask what separate purpose each would serve, what additional risk or recovery the combination brings, and whether one procedure or no procedure is a better option.
Is REDI’s ₩1,490,000 example a Sofwave price?
No. It is the listed September first-visit Ultherapy PRIME 400-shot offer, excluding VAT and Dr. Min Jung. A Sofwave quote needs separate confirmation.
