Planning plastic surgery in Korea: consultation, quotes and your stay

Prepare a Korean plastic-surgery consultation with an itemised quote, named surgeon, follow-up schedule and travel plan before committing to surgery.

A planning checklist. It does not determine which procedure is suitable for you.

At a glance

  • Arrange a consultation before committing to a surgical plan. Confirm the exact procedure, surgeon, anaesthesia and facility arrangements, written total, aftercare and travel advice. A remote estimate or appointment request is not surgical clearance.

Define the procedure before comparing the price

“Eye surgery” or “nose surgery” is too broad for a like-for-like quotation. Tell the clinic which change you want to discuss, whether you have had previous surgery and whether this is a revision enquiry. Ask for the exact proposed procedure after assessment.

For a breast consultation, for example, distinguish the concerns you want assessed rather than assuming every offer is the same augmentation package. If an implant or other material is proposed, ask for its identity and what is included. Do not infer a personalised surgical plan from a promotional picture.

Speak with the surgeon, not only a booking coordinator

ASPS highlights the importance of meeting the surgeon who will perform the procedure before surgery. [1] Confirm the surgeon’s name, qualifications relevant to the procedure, consultation date and whether your booking is with that person.

Bring your medical and surgical history, medication list and questions. Ask how interpretation will work during consultation, consent and aftercare. You should have time to understand alternatives, risks and the option not to proceed; a remote discussion does not replace the clinical assessment.

Turn the headline price into an itemised total

Ask the clinic to identify included, optional and separately charged items in writing. Use the table below as questions, not as a claim that these charges exist at every clinic. A lower headline price may describe a different scope, and a higher price is not proof of better quality.

ItemQuestion for the clinic
Operation and surgeonExact procedure, named surgeon, primary or revision?
Anaesthesia and facilityType, responsible team, facility and observation charges?
Materials and medicationSpecified implant/material, prescriptions and dressings?
Checks and aftercareTests, follow-up visits and removal of stitches if needed?
Payment conditionsTax, deposit, cancellation and possible additional fees?

Create a stay plan around medical review

Use a sequence rather than an invented universal number of recovery days: consultation and tests, decision, procedure if suitable, recovery and scheduled review, then travel clearance. Ask the clinic to distinguish minimum local follow-up from feeling comfortable in public or returning to work.

CDC notes that travel during postoperative recovery can add risk, including blood clots associated with prolonged sitting. [2] Your individual return date needs advice from the treating team. Do not treat a hotel booking, package length or another person’s experience as permission to fly.

Confirm who helps if the plan changes

Ask who to contact outside opening hours, where you would be assessed if there is a complication and which costs are separate. Clarify what happens if you need to stay longer, postpone surgery or return for an additional visit. Check insurance coverage rather than assuming elective surgery complications are covered.

Before departure, request your procedure record and written aftercare instructions. Decide how you will obtain medical assessment at home if needed. An online message may help coordination, but it does not replace an examination when the treating team says one is necessary.

What GREY needs for a useful Girin enquiry

Send the area you want to discuss, whether it is a first or revision procedure, approximate travel dates, preferred language and budget. GREY can check consultation arrangements with Girin Plastic Surgery and ask the clinic to clarify the quotation and follow-up requirements.

You can write: “I am considering a nose consultation, not a confirmed operation. Please confirm the surgeon, assessment schedule, itemised estimate and required follow-up before I commit to travel.” Share clinical records through the channel agreed with the clinic. GREY coordinates; the surgeon determines suitability and the surgical plan.

Questions before booking

Can I reserve surgery before travelling?

Ask about the clinic’s reservation and deposit process, but keep it separate from medical suitability. A reserved slot or remote estimate does not guarantee that surgery will proceed.

Does “one-day care” mean a surgical package?

Do not assume so. Ask for the exact procedures. A skin-care package and an operation can have very different assessment and recovery requirements.

How many days should I stay?

There is no single answer for all procedures or patients. Obtain the surgeon’s follow-up and travel instructions for the actual proposed operation.

Plan the consultation before the operation

Tell GREY what you would like assessed and your possible dates. We can help confirm Girin’s consultation process, quote conditions and appointment options.

Free GREY enquiry and booking support. No obligation to book. Any clinic deposit conditions are confirmed before you decide.
